Proof of Concept for Covid-19 Fever Screening
vietec has been working closely to provide a Proof of Concept for Fever Screening with one of our major clients. Our client sees this technology as one of the drivers to assist in their back to work strategy which will enable production to commence across the UK.
The solution is based upon Hikvision using a bullet camera on a tripod, along with a Windows 10 laptop that has the Hikvision iVMS-4200 application onboard. This solution will enable our client to fever screen its workforce with an accuracy of + or –0.5 degrees Centigrade. Hikvision’s temperature screening thermographic cameras are designed for the detection of skin-surface temperatures so as to achieve rapid preliminary screening in public areas.
The delivery of the concept included the set up of the following operations;
Install the camera in a windless indoor environment
Set up a specific temperature measurement zone
Double-check with a thermometer upon detection of elevated skin-surface temperatures
Camera powered up for 25-30 mins before use
Once these were in place vietec installed the camera pointing in a direction of path that would capture the full face of the persons entering the image. The camera was set at a height between 1.5 and 1.7M with a recommended distance of between 2.5 and 9m from the person entering the image.
Images of persons were taken and delivered the records that our client wanted to achieve. Procedures should be put in place to confirm the Actual core body temperatures using clinical measurement devices.
Our client has found the proof of concept to be extremely reliable and will help them to deliver the new Covid-19 procedures on their production sites. The next steps will be to roll out 10 systems within their estates.
