Charity work is very important to vietec and every year the team collectively aims to raise funds and awareness for worthy causes by donating time, effort, and money through fundraising activities. Due to the unfortunate circumstances brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, vietec has not been able to hold the annual fundraising events. vietec would normally send thank you Christmas gifts and cards to clients, but with many working remotely, vietec are donating the funds spent on cards and gifts to worthy causes. vietec has doubled its usual spend to a £1000 donation each to two selected charities. This year vietec wanted to support services that have been put under extra pressure during the pandemic with a focus on mental health.
The COVID-19 pandemic has affected all our lives. Bereavement, isolation, loss of income, and fear are triggering mental health conditions or exacerbating existing ones. Those already living with mental health problems are facing extra challenges too.
Don’t Lose Hope a charity put forward by vietec Project Manager, Simon Bonham, offers professional counselling services for all members of the Bourne community from age 4 upwards. This is a free service for families and individuals receiving certain state benefits and affordable to all others. This service is delivered by a team of qualified and experienced counsellors, in private fully equipped counselling rooms. Don’t Lose Hope rely on fundraising to ensure they can maintain this service. Funds are raised through their café, gift shop and donations.
Don’t Lose Hope said “We would like to say a huge thank you to vietec for their £1000 donation. With our café currently closed due to COVID-19 and fundraising limited, this donation will provide 50 counselling sessions for children, young people, or adults.”

The pandemic has put a huge strain on many young people who were already struggling with their mental health.
More than one in five students said their mental health was much worse, while 63% felt COVID-19 posed either a big or significant risk to their mental or physical health (Source Office for National Statistics).
vietec’s Business Development Manager, Steve Mundell nominated the charity The Grey Dog. The charity works to change the conversation about mental health for young people, by empowering young people and those who live and work with them to talk openly about mental health. The Grey Dog put young people’s mental health at centre stage by raising awareness, providing training, and campaigning for change.
